Attribution teams credit climate change with more of Hurricane Polo's strength than El Niño

Nepal's debris flow began 5,150 metres up as a 2.2-square-kilometre slab of bedrock

Satellite images of the August 26 collapse show a fresh, uniform scar high on Langtang Lirung's north face. The volume researchers estimate from it, about 110 million cubic metres, averages roughly 50 metres of rock and ice.

Quake-weakened rock and human-caused warming combined to cause Nepal's 26 August avalanche, study finds

World Weather Attribution scientists found human influence has made annual temperatures about 1.9C warmer near the site of Nepal's 26 August avalanche. A Canterbury researcher on the team says the Southern Alps share many of the same conditions, though he expects any such event there to be much smaller.

Six Canadian and US newsrooms tied the 2023 wildfires to climate change in more than 30% of stories

Concordia researchers found more than 30% of almost 2,000 stories on Canada's 2023 wildfires in six outlets explicitly tied the fires to climate change. The data cover one record season, so whether newsrooms kept drawing the link afterwards is still untested.
