Two sheep per hectare lifted beneficial insect abundance 38% over mowing at a Cornell solar farm

Cornell researchers report that two sheep per hectare raised bee and lady beetle abundance 38% over mowing at one New York solar farm. Honey bees drove most of the gain, and at four sheep per hectare the advantage over mowing was gone.

Construction machinery packed a Brandenburg agri-photovoltaic field past root-growth limits

ZALF researchers found that building an agri-photovoltaic plant left subsoil at 1.67 to 1.69 g/cm3, against 1.14 to 1.34 on an uncompacted control plot. For sandy farmland under solar panels, that is dense enough to restrict root growth, so the farming half of the arrangement depends on how the site is built.

Hanwha Q CELLS and POSCO build an agrivoltaics supply chain on a 23-year permit

Korean farmland rules made operators pull solar equipment out after eight years, against hardware rated past 30. A law promulgated in June lifted the ceiling to 23 years, and the two companies signed an MOU on the 17th.

Agrivoltaics model scores farmworker heat stress next to crop light and water

A new simulation reports panel shade cut perceived temperature by 4.46 C during working hours, which makes array layout a labour-safety decision as well as a yield one.
