CVE-2026-88008 lets an h2c Upgrade header carry requests past Traefik's BasicAuth and rate limits

In CVE-2026-88008, Traefik tunnels raw bytes once a backend answers a client's h2c Upgrade with 101, so later HTTP/2 requests bypass every middleware. According to a DEV Community write-up, the tunnel opens only when the backend accepts the upgrade.

Traefik's 3.7 announcement nests service middlewares one level too deep for the parser

Traefik 3.7.14 rejected the announcement post's service-middleware YAML with "field not found, node: middlewares", a dev.to author reported. The key belongs on the service beside loadBalancer. Moved there, it kept a canary-only header off stable traffic in every test, so configs copied from the post need a parse check first.

Healthchecks turns the missing backup ping into the alarm

Self-hosted Healthchecks v4.4 expects every cron job to check in after a successful run, and it alerts when the ping is late by more than the grace time. Getting the container up takes three settings the guides get wrong.

HAProxy's 206ms token lag comes from an MSG_MORE tag on every in-flight body write

An HAProxy employee traced the 206ms first-token delay out of the proxy and into the kernel send path, where the H1 mux marks each body write as incomplete and the system holds it back until it can fill a packet.

Spoofed admin headers hit Traefik's catchall 500 times out of 500

Traefik 3.6's release material says child routers cannot be called directly. A test on 3.6.25 sent the exact header a child router matches, on a path outside the parent prefix, 500 times, and none of it reached the admin service.

SQLite carries the k3s control plane to a claimed 50 nodes and 5,000 pods

A dev.to walkthrough makes the case for k3s over upstream kubeadm on install speed and defaults, and rests it on an embedded SQLite datastore that it rates for 50 nodes and 5,000 pods.

Porting OAuth2 Proxy to Gateway API moves the login redirect into a Traefik-specific CRD

A guide rebuilding browser OIDC login off ingress-nginx keeps its Gateway and HTTPRoute objects intact and hands the 401-to-302 step to two Traefik middlewares. Swap the controller and that half gets rewritten.

A coding harness holds the turn open until the repo's own checks exit zero

A dev.to post blames most local-model failure in coding loops on unverified edits and ignored exit codes. It describes a harness that re-reads files from disk and refuses to end a turn while the project's checks are red.

ingress-nginx's retirement turns Gateway API migration into a patch deadline

Helm charts and container images keep working after March 2026, but the patch stream stops, and the recommended replacement is a specification rather than software, so every team now picks its own controller.

Configuration closes two of the three plaintext hops in "TLS everywhere"

The ingress-to-pod hop needs one nginx annotation and a pod that can serve TLS; the database hop needs one client flag. Pod-to-pod is the hop the dev.to inventory can only close with a mesh, and that is where the money goes.

Six CVEs trace one bypass class to an unspecified decode order in RFC 3986

A gateway ACL and a backend router are separate parsers with no agreed decode order, which is why /%2Fadmin still lands. Normalizing earlier relocates the window; refusing ambiguous paths is what closes it.

One Self-Hosted Setup Cuts a $198 Platform Bill to a $24 Droplet

A dev.to writeup trades a $198 monthly platform invoice for a $24 DigitalOcean droplet running Dokploy, with the caveat that the arithmetic only transfers if your build and your database both fit in 4GB beside the app.

Green dashboard, dead switch: ndots:5 and a wildcard record aim your heartbeat at Traefik

Two sane Kubernetes defaults plus one convenient DNS record send a backup job's heartbeat to an ingress VIP, where a NetworkPolicy eats it without a packet of complaint.
