FFmpeg 8.1.2 patches a MagicYUV heap write that a thumbnailed .avi can trigger

FFmpeg 8.1.2 fixes CVE-2026-8461, a CVSS 8.8 heap out-of-bounds write in the libavcodec MagicYUV decoder that JFrog found. A dev.to post-mortem says a crafted .avi thumbnailed by a file manager reaches it, so anything linking libavcodec needs a version check.

Citrix's NetScaler shipped a preauth DTLS overflow reachable in its default state

Citrix fixed CVE-2026-88772, a pre-auth DTLS memory overflow in NetScaler exploited as a zero-day and one of two exploited flaws in Sunday's advisory. The vulnerable handshake runs before authentication, so an internet-facing appliance answers a crafted packet with no login.

One unauthenticated packet crashes TDengine, the database behind factory and EV telemetry

Ridge Security disclosed CVE-2026-42542, a flaw that lets an unauthenticated attacker crash a TDengine server with one malformed packet on port 6030. A patch shipped in 3.4.1.6, and the only proven payoff is a crash.

Signed int arithmetic in libde265 shrinks a 4 GB plane allocation to 1,040 bytes before the fill

The proof of concept in strukturag's advisory declares a 33800 by 63520 picture at 16-bit depth, wraps the signed size calculation, and lets fill_plane write 4,294,968,336 bytes into the undersized heap buffer.

Two critical image-decoder overflows anchor Samsung's 90-fix September Galaxy bulletin

Samsung lists 18 critical Google-side bugs plus 31 of its own, including heap overflows in DNG and JPEG decoding. The rollout starts with major flagships, so only the 2026-09-05 patch level tells a fleet owner who is actually covered.

NetStaX buffer overflow in EtherNet/IP stack requires licensees to rebuild and release patched firmware

CISA's advisory lists eight Pyramid Solutions development kits below v5.6.1 rather than any finished device, so the fix reaches plant floors only after each device maker rebuilds and ships firmware.

A tenant-installable PostGIS extension carried the same out-of-bounds bug onto Lakebase and Neon

Databricks says an ordinary customer role could reach the unchecked array index. The repair went upstream into the open-source extension rather than into either fleet. That is the only version that helps anyone else.
