IWF's half-year count of AI child abuse images passes 2025's full-year total by 40%

Internet Watch Foundation analysts assessed 6,310 AI-generated child abuse images in the first half of 2026, 40% more than in all of 2025. The charity wants binding AI law, but the government has not signalled an imminent bill, so existing criminal offences remain the rules image firms face.

UK prepares to legislate nudity blocking into the camera and every third-party app

Talks with Apple and Google since June produced progress the government calls insufficient, so ministers will write device-level blocks into law. There is no bill text yet, and that is the part product teams have to plan around.

Two-thirds of Australian children surveyed report grooming-related contact from online strangers, Adelaide University study finds

The rate is roughly double what earlier prevalence studies found, and most of that gap comes from counting the trust-building talk that precedes any sexual request. The authors call it a snapshot.
