ElevenLabs doubles its valuation to $22 billion on a sale of 1.4% of its stock
ElevenLabs' $300 million employee tender, led by Wellington and T. Rowe Price, values the London voice AI firm at $22 billion, double its February price. The company raises no new cash, so the doubled price comes from roughly 1.4% of its stock changing hands.
The Investor · Invest desk

What happened
- Goldman Sachs, Singapore's GIC, EQT, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Sapphire Ventures and BDT & MSD bought in for the first time, alongside backers such as Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed.
- The previous $11 billion valuation was set in February, when ElevenLabs raised $500 million of new money in a Series D round.
- Enterprise customers now account for 55% of revenue, and annual recurring revenue from Eleven Agents, its conversational platform, has more than tripled since February.
- Its agents handle more than 15 million conversations a week, three times the February level, on tasks such as refunds, insurance renewals and healthcare bookings.
Why it matters
- Who has to decide decision Because this round brought in no money, the next primary raise will be priced against a $22 billion mark that ElevenLabs must match, or else explain to the staff who sold at it.
- Who's exposed exposure The six first-time holders paid twice February's price for a stake under a third of that round's size. They are the investors most exposed if Agents growth slows before the next round.
- What it limits constraint None of the named buyers is a British pension fund. UK retirement money had no part in setting the price of a London AI firm now valued at about £16 billion, and that is the gap ministers' pension reforms are aimed at.

Andreessen Horowitz's Olivia Moore says most consumer AI money comes from prosumersConfirmed2 publishers
At $22bn, $300m of stock is about 1.4% of ElevenLabs [17]. At $11bn, February's $500m bought roughly 4.5%, assuming that figure was post-money [2][18]. So the price doubled on a trade less than a third the size of the stake the February buyers took [19]. The sellers were employees and existing shareholders [5]. The company did not disclose how the $300m split between the two groups, or the revenue base behind the growth figures it published [8].
Those figures are ratios. A weekly conversation count three times February's implies about 5 million a week back then [9][13]. A more-than-tripling of Agents ARR [8] would look the same in the release whether the starting base was small or large. Beyond the ratios, ElevenLabs said its products are used in daily operations at five of the world's 10 largest tech companies, five of the 10 biggest insurers and four of the 10 largest telecoms groups [11].
There are a few ways to read the price. In the first, Agents revenue keeps compounding on a meaningful base, the next primary round clears $22bn, and the tender buyers got in early. In the second, the six first-time holders [6] were mainly buying a place on the shareholder register ahead of later rounds or a listing. Then $22bn is what that place cost on 1.4% of the stock [17], and a primary raise the size of February's could price lower. The third reading looks at the sellers: existing shareholders who sold took cash at twice February's price [2][5].
I think the second reading is closest. A sale this small with six new names on it measures how much institutions want the stock. The published figures do not let anyone set a revenue multiple against the price. The case against that view is the Agents line, whose annual recurring revenue more than tripled in the months since February [8]. If it keeps growing at that rate, $22bn will look cheap by the next round. A primary round at or above $22bn, or a disclosed ARR figure that supports the price, would show this view is wrong.
The company said giving staff liquidity was one reason for the tender [10], and it has run tenders before [7]. It employs more than 800 people across 20 countries [12]. "As we grow, it's important to us to let our people share in some of the value they are creating for our customers and the wider world," chief executive Mati Staniszewski said [4].
City AM converts the $22bn to £16bn [3]. That is close to two-fifths of the more than £40bn that Hurun's July index put on all nine UK AI unicorns combined [14][20]. By July only two UK unicorns had floated this year, against 35 in the US, and British pension funds put a smaller share of their assets into venture capital than their North American peers [15]. Ministers are trying to change that with pension reforms and a proposed UK Scale-up Fund of more than £1bn [16].
What to watch
- The price of ElevenLabs' next primary round, at, above or below $22 billion, is the direct test of the level this tender set.
- A disclosed total ARR or revenue figure from ElevenLabs would let the $22 billion be checked against a revenue multiple.
- Whether UK pension reforms or the proposed £1bn-plus Scale-up Fund bring British money into a later ElevenLabs tender or round.
